KWSP wins national motorsport award for business excellence

High-performance engineering consultancy, KW Special Projects (KWSP), took home gold in the New Markets category at last night’s Motorsport Industry Association Business Excellence Awards (10 January). The prestigious ceremony, which recognises innovation and best practice, was held at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.

The judges recognised KWSP’s first-of-a-kind transfer of proven motorsport technologies and capabilities into other sectors, including electric vehicle development, ceramics and performance sports. The business, which has quickly grown from a small motorsport consultancy to a multi-million-pound engineering operation, accounts its growing revenues (37% year-on-year) to this continued drive.

Kieron Salter, managing director of KWSP, commented: “Having grown out of the UK’s vibrant motorsport industry, KWSP brings innovation, creativity and dynamism to all of its projects. Utilising a wide range of proven and emerging technologies – such as additive manufacturing, new materials development, light-weighting, PC-based controls and even virtual reality, we are continually driving innovation across multiple markets.

“Our success at this year’s Business Excellence Awards is testament to the entire team, who have been instrumental in spearheading the drive of horizontal innovation from the world of motorsport into adjacent sectors. Being recognised by our peers at such an esteemed national ceremony is wonderful news.”
