As they get up close and personal to the largest collection of electric vehicles ever assembled in the UK, visitors to this year’s Fully Charged live event can learn how one business is electrifying premium vehicles by bringing modern engineering to the world of classics.
KW Heritage, a specialist in harnessing new technologies to optimise and restore vehicles, will be participating in a panel of specialists discussing Electric Vehicle (EV) Classics. EV projects at KWH are led by Sally Povolotsky, previously concept and innovation lead on the Electric E-type Jaguar Concept Zero. The live panel session will give an insight into the trend of electrifying classic vehicles, outlining the environmental and driving benefits that can be achieved, as well as considerations such as safety and homologation.
KW Heritage is fast-becoming the key one stop shop for projects in electrifying prestige classic cars and bringing back to life special vehicles. A division of KW Special Projects, known for its use of digital manufacturing and high-performance engineering, KW Heritage is helping restore some of the world’s most valuable vehicles. The company’s work helps owners everywhere strike the perfect balance between old and new, with modern engineering techniques.
Povolotsky commented: “Electrifying classic cars is a hot topic. For many enthusiasts, it means trouble-free ownership, with no oil leaks! Global trends mean that legislation and policies continue to restrict importation of classic cars in many regions with combustion engines because of pollution and emissions rules.
“Remember the electric car/motor came before the combustion engine, sadly the infrastructure and technology of the time couldn’t support the growth of range requirements and charging needs. We are embracing knowledge and past experience to bring the best powertrain options to owners worldwide, using the best of British Electrical Engineering.
“KW Heritage is positioned to lead in this field, using the most advanced technologies and powertrain components to re-imagine classic cars. We are working on some exciting powertrain developments with leading experts in their field, to bring to market a safe, tested and approved system that can prolong or breathe new life into any classic car. I am really looking forward to the debate, under Jonny Smith’s expert chairmanship, and hearing what the public foresee as the barriers to electrifying their own cars.”
Fully Charged Live takes place from Saturday June 9 – Sunday 10 at Silverstone.
